The initial shipment of this new viewer in Winter of 2002 had many problems. Some had advancing problems, but the worst part was the lenses. So bad I don't even think they should qualify as lenses.
The current version is a vast improvement with fixed lenses at the correct focal length (apparently the original problem). The quality of lenses varies on the batch, so as always you have to go through several to find a few good viewers.
My one gripe with the design is the narrow angle for light to enter the diffuser. Also the reel titles are awkward to look at (ok two gripes )
